The Masonry’ is the latest addition to the Iconic Offices growing portfolio. This converted warehouse in the centre of Dublin 8 offers impressive modern office space and boasts a heated terrace, bar and restaurant. Spanning over six floors, CGDM were appointed as main contractors for the renovation and fit-out of this 200-year-old building. The original building itself was an architectural glory, presenting two distinct periods of architecture together in one unique premise. A c.30,000 sq. ft. Edwardian façade and office building to the front, with a c.40,000 sq. ft brick and beam warehouse to the rear. The key focus in the delivery of this building was to modernise the space while highlighting and honouring the heritage features of the building. CGDM were tasked with structurally trying to adjust the building, and maintain original pillars, glasswork and brickwork while incorporating modern mechanical and electrical facilities required for a modern office space without impacting on the original character of the building. We retained the character and original features of the two very different and individual spaces while creating design cohesion that married the two buildings into one fully interconnected and fluid space. Major works were carried out along with astute structural design to provide ease of movement. Bridges were strategically placed for connection between the front of the building and the warehouse, crossing both the courtyards and creating a striking overhead design feature, glulam beams with polycarbonate covering / steel frame with glass covering. This was the ideal setting for Vandal Café & Restaurant which was designed as both a fantastic amenity to occupants of The Masonry in addition to an exciting new food and beverage offering within the neighbourhood of Dublin 8. With distressed antique mirrors and marble countertops complemented with a deeply rich colour palette and brass detailing give the space an opulent look & feel. The requirement for interconnection to the building whilst operating as a separate entity was a challenge. The result was a fully operational café and restaurant operating within the office building, at the same time maintaining a degree of separation allowing it to work in isolation and trade publicly. An expansive luxurious reception offers a stylish yet relaxed lounge and casual breakout space to members as well as a welcome point for visiting guests. Within the individual offices, dark teal carpets, lighter teal walls match the timber decorative elements. All original cornicing and decorative elements retained enhancing the buildings beautiful features.

The Masonry received 5 stars for Best in Class in Ireland for Best Office Renovation / Redevelopment at the International Property Awards in London, with an additional regional nomination for the overall European and International Awards for Commercial Renovation category. This outstanding project is also shortlisted at the Fit Out Awards 2019 and the Irish Building & Design Awards 2019
